Darkness

Lying in bed at night, alone in the darkness,
The darkness is enough, divesting details,
Images, infatuations, appetites, and entrapments,
Rewards no longer necessary, darkness is enough,
No rewards, no pleasure, no consolation,
No sweetness, no saltiness, northing sour,
Deprivation, disassociation, the emptiness is enough,
Dreams, aspirations, conceptions of significance,
Brilliance and distractions wasting time and space,
A fire burning through emotion and experience,
Individuality abandoned within totality, being,
A reference point, darkness is enough,
Philosophies, thoughts, feelings decimated,
Darkness is enough, darkness is enough.

Mediocre Morning, a Good Morning

Nothing. Nothing. I bring nothing to the table. Nothing.
Skinned knees and weariness, a heart and a smile,
A breeze reading Bukowski, an aftermath after math,
Logical deduction, a postal worker, precision, accuracy,
and application. Left behind in a calming expansion
brought around…decades enduring; faith, hope, and charity,
A reduction, remnants within able to dispense, to dissipate,
to dissect myself reveling within the crowd, a full moon,
The rising sun, a new friend, Peter’s son floating down
The Jordan. A river from the Galilee to the Dead Sea.
Millenniums passing, more than a friend, a modern conundrum,
Here I stand. Here I sit. Here I think. Here I am. Here I let go.
Here I breathe. Here I recede. Here I pray. Here I meditate.
Here I am able to be loved. Unbound, untied, untangled in love.

Jeremiah the Prophet

Woe to me, mother, that you gave me birth!
a man of strife and contention to all the land!
I neither borrow nor lend,
yet all curse me.
When I found your words, I devoured them;
they became my joy and the happiness of my heart,
Because I bore your name,
O LORD, God of hosts.
I did not sit celebrating
in the circle of merrymakers;
Under the weight of your hand I sat alone
because you filled me with indignation.
Why is my pain continuous,
my wound incurable, refusing to be healed?
You have indeed become for me a treacherous brook,
whose waters do not abide!

Thus the LORD answered me:
If you repent, so that I restore you,
in my presence you shall stand;
If you bring forth the precious without the vile,
you shall be my mouthpiece.
Then it shall be they who turn to you,
and you shall not turn to them;
And I will make you toward this people
a solid wall of brass.
Though they fight against you,
they shall not prevail,
For I am with you,
to deliver and rescue you, says the LORD.
I will free you from the hand of the wicked,
and rescue you from the grasp of the violent.

Silently embracing the first reading of the day, or those who sow in tears shall reap rejoicing

Brothers and sisters:
We hold this treasure in earthen vessels,
that the surpassing power may be of God and not from us.
We are afflicted in every way, but not constrained;
perplexed, but not driven to despair;
persecuted, but not abandoned;
struck down, but not destroyed;
always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus,
so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our body.
For we who live are constantly being given up to death
for the sake of Jesus,
so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.So death is at work in us, but life in you.
Since, then, we have the same spirit of faith,
according to what is written, I believed, therefore I spoke,
we too believe and therefore speak,
knowing that the one who raised the Lord Jesus
will raise us also with Jesus
and place us with you in his presence.
Everything indeed is for you,
so that the grace bestowed in abundance on more and more people
may cause the thanksgiving to overflow for the glory of God.

Absolute Solitude

My blood is like a river that brings me landscapes both reflected and erased, landscapes from other shores I have never seen.

It is like a long, mysterious river I feel flowing within me and whose name I shall ignore.

It comes from a depth so remote I am afraid to look into it. It goes I know not where, and meanwhile, passes like a river dragging sand, flowers, and remnants of me myself, prisoner of a flow without meaning.
